Tuttle is a market leader in book categories ranging from Asian arts and crafts to language learning (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, Hindi and others), martial arts, origami, architecture, design, gardening, travel, Asian literature, cooking, history and multi-cultural Asian children's books. We specialize in highly informative books—many of them beautifully illustrated—which help promote a greater understanding of Asia. We have an extensive backlist and publish approximately 200 new titles each year working with authors, photographers, illustrators and designers around the world.

 

Book Publishing Sales Manager Position:

In-office Book Publishing Sales Manager position is available for full time employment.  Work closely with Sales and Marketing Director to create and manage the seasonal selling schedule and prioritize sales initiatives for the selling season. Maintain and strengthen relationships with key distributors to maximize sales opportunities with bookstores, libraries and gift markets. Present titles and lists to various accounts and rep groups. Analyze title and customer performance to identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to ensure sales presentations and promotional materials are available for all sales reps. Work with marketing department on seasonal sales materials, including specific materials for reps and regional shows. Coordinate and attend Comic Cons/Matsuri Festivals/Consumer events throughout the year.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-3 years’ book sales work experience
  • Computer skills including Excel
  • Communication skills both verbal and written
  • Able to prioritize workload, time management and delegation
  • Open-minded, innovative, proactive self-starter who can work well independently yet flourishes in a collaborative environment
  • Flexibility in daily/monthly tasks
  • Must relocate before start date

 Book Sales Internship Position:

 In-office Book Publishing Sales Internship available for up to 24 hours per week on Monday, Wednesday or Fridays at our US Headquarters in North Clarendon, Vermont—just south of Rutland. This position will give you experience in creating and implementing sales campaigns to Retail Bookstores, Direct to Consumers and the Educational Market.

 Tasks include:

  • Create sales visual presentations by identifying titles and creating collections into presentations via the book platform Edelweiss. This will then be distributed to our sales reps and accounts as needed.
  • Create a Language Book Tutorial presenting the appropriate learning sequence of our books for each individual language.
  • Work with Independent Bookstores by developing fun and interesting programs or contest to encourage customers to go to their stores for our books.
  • Evaluate sales data to inform under performing accounts of the titles that are selling well in other outlets so they know which titles to present to their customers.

Amazon Marketing & Brand Page Internship Available:

In-office Book Publishing Internship available for up to 24 hours per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and/or Fridays at our US Headquarters in North Clarendon, Vermont—just south of Rutland.  This position will give you experience in Amazon’s Vendor Central Marketing to Create Amazon A+ Product Pages and update Tuttle Publishing’s Brand Page. You will also build product shot photography experience in our photo studio.  This paid internship will allow you to add to your resume and build your portfolio. 

Successful candidates should be comfortable using Canva and DSL camera photography.  Interests in the categories we publish a plus. Editorial Internship Position:

In-office Book Publishing Editorial Internship available for up to 24 hours per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and/or Fridays at our US Headquarters in North Clarendon, Vermont—just south of Rutland. This position will give you experience in the acquiring and developing of books in such topics as Asian literature, cooking, crafts, philosophies and more. Sample tasks include:

  •           Research projects for potential acquisitions
  •           Participate in the creation process of planned but not-yet-published titles
  •           Assist in the editing and proof-reading of not yet published titles
  •           Assist in the process of book cover development
  •           Research images for specific book projects
  •           And other aspects of book development
